The family says doctors told them had it been an inch closer to Kelley's eye, she could have died.

A 19-year-old who was slashed and chased down the streets of Coney Island is recovering physically and emotionally following the attack.

Kayandrea Kelley says she was with friends near her Coney Island home when a woman came after her on Mermaid Avenue and West 28th Street. Kelley says the woman tried to fight her, and then took out a box cutter and slashed her in the face.
