BROOKLYN - ? Voters are making themselves heard today as they use new scanning machines to cast their votes for candidates in several key races in New York.

One of the biggest races throughout the state is the Republican primary for governor, where former Rep. Rick Lazio will face off against millionaire businessman Carl Paladino. Recent polls show Paladino neck-and-neck with Lazio.

Another statewide race pits Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice in a five-way race against Eric Dinallo, Assemblyman Richard Brodsky, former federal prosecutor Sean Coffey and state Senator Eric Schneiderman. The five candidates are looking for the Democratic nomination for state attorney general.

Several local races are also taking place throughout Brooklyn. Stay with News 12 Brooklyn for live complete coverage throughout the day and up-to-the-minute results after polls close at 9 p.m.
