BROOKLYN - A Brooklyn community college is experiencing an enrollment spike unseen in school history.

Officials say enrollment at Kingsborough Community College, which is part of the CUNY system, has expanded from 13,000 students to more than 15,000 in a span of two years. Officials also estimate that enrollment is up 3 percent at CUNY schools in general.

Kingsborough Community College President Regina Peruggi says she has added more classes, increased tutoring services and created more faculty jobs. She says she thinks the CUNY enrollment spike is a sign that more students are choosing CUNY schools as their first choice.
