MANHATTAN BEACH - Students and faculty at a nationally recognized college in Brooklyn are beaming with pride after learning of their school's selection.

Kingsborough Community College (KCC) was honored Tuesday by the Aspen Institute for its academic success. The school was named one of the top four community colleges in the nation, and its president, Dr. Regina Peruggi, says the transfer rate helped the cause.

Peruggi says around 60 percent of all students transfer to four-year colleges and, upon graduation, earn an average of $40,000 a year.

KCC was given a trophy and $100,000 to be used for student scholarships.
