GREENPOINT - The Kosciuszko Bridge in Greenpoint will finally be remade after years of planning.

The bridge is 74 years old and connects Brooklyn to Queens from the Brooklyn Queens Expressway. It is only three lanes wide in each direction, which slows down traffic.

The makeover will cost $800 million and will be paid for mostly by the federal government.

The makeover will be divided into two phases, with the first one breaking ground this fall.
