GREENPOINT - A local lawmaker is proposing that the city install a permanent bike lane on the Pulaski Bridge that connects Greenpoint with Queens along McGuiness Boulevard.

Assemblyman Joseph Lentol (D-Greenpoint) is asking the city to remove one of the vehicle lanes on the bridge and add a bike lane in its place.

Some bicyclists approve of the idea, but others say the bridge is fine the way it is with the pedestrian and bike lane already in place.

The Department of Transportation says it is investigating the feasibility of the proposal.
