Lawyer for man accused of killing BK boy leaves case

One day after the medical examiner released the cause of death for 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky, one of suspected killer Levi Aron's attorneys has stepped down

KENSINGTON - One day after the medical examiner released the cause of death for 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky, one of suspected killer Levi Aron's attorneys has stepped down from the case.

Gerrard Marrone resigned as Aron's representative without giving an explanation as to why.

The move comes after a grand jury handed down an eight-count indictment against Aron.  Aron's remaining lawyer, Pierre Bazile, would not comment on the indictment.

According to the Brooklyn district attorney, Aron kidnapped, murdered and dismembered Kletzky. The medical examiner also revealed yesterday that Kletzky was given a deadly concoction of pills before he was smothered to death.

Aron's murder charge alone carries a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole.  His next court date is scheduled for July 28.
