Leonard Street schools evacuated after threat

WILLIAMSBURG - The Department of Education says students and staff members were evacuated from the schools at 424 Leonard St. Tuesday afternoon due to a bomb threat.

Students and staff were taken to a nearby park while police investigated John Ericsson Middle School and the Williamsburg Charter High School. Police say the bomb squad didn't find anything suspicious and students were allowed back in the building.

Parents speculate the threat was a prank pulled by a student upset by his or her grades on the recent report cards.
