BROOKLYN - Leopoldi Hardware in Park Slope is celebrating 50 years as a community institution in Brooklyn.

The mom and pop shop began in 1966 with little idea of how important it would become to the surrounding neighborhood decades later.

Three Leopoldi brothers took over the business from their father after he died in the late 1980s. They carried on his legacy of matching quality, affordable products and top-notch customer service.

Customers were in and out of the store Saturday to wish the owners continued success for the next 50 years.
