BROOKLYN - A man has been sentenced for a murder that led to a police-involved shootout and the death of a Crown Heights woman.

Leroy Webster received a sentence of at least 40 years in prison for the fatal shooting of 29-year-old Eusi Johnson in 2011.

Webster received the maximum sentence of 25 years to life for second-degree murder and a consecutive sentence of 15 years for attempted aggravated assault.

Prosecutors say the crime ended in a gun battle that killed 56-year-old Denise Gay, who was struck by a stray bullet while sitting on her stoop.

Gay's family and friends were at the courthouse for the sentencing to call attention to her case. They claim the bullet that killed her came from the same type of gun used by police, and that the cops involved used excessive force.
