Prosecutors say the crime ended in a gun battle that killed 56-year-old Denise Gay, who was struck by a stray bullet while sitting on her stoop.
Gay's family and friends were at the courthouse for the sentencing to call attention to her case. They claim the bullet that killed her came from the same type of gun used by police, and that the cops involved used excessive force.
