BROOKLYN - Local leaders are joining with the NYSHealth Diabetes Campaign to provide access and care to those with the debilitating disease.

Diabetes currently affects more than 164,000 Brooklyn residents. Bedford-Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, Flatbush and Sheepshead Bay have the highest rates in the borough.

The campaign will provide screenings, demonstrate care and work with community leaders to increase awareness.
