BROOKLYN - Loved ones gathered Saturday to remember the late Councilman James Davis.

Poets paid tribute to Davis and his legacy as councilman, reading words and lyrics about the need to combat gun violence – an issue he dedicated his life to.

"People have a tendency of gravitating to sound, to vibration, to the arts,” says Geoffrey Davis, brother of the councilman. “We can reach them and address the violence through the arts.”

Davis was assassinated 13 years ago inside the chambers of City Hall.
