BROOKLYN - Family and friends gathered to mourn the loss of a noted Brooklyn photojournalist killed by a rocket-propelled grenade in war-torn Libya last week.

Memorial services were held for 41-year-old Chris Hondros at Sacred Heart Church and Saint Stephen's Church in Carroll Gardens today. Hondros and another Brooklyn-based photographer, 40-year-old Tim Hetherington, died while covering the ongoing conflict in Misrata.

Loved ones shared their thoughts and memories on Hondros, who worked for Getty Images and had captured images in embattled countries since the late 1990s.

Hondros' funeral is set for later this week in his North Carolina hometown.
