Copeland's mother says her daughter was an avid drummer, and was hanging out with friends after band practice before the attack. (May 31, 2014 10:12 PM)

Family, friends and loved ones held a vigil on Saturday for a teen stabbed to death in East New York.

The incident occurred at around 10:30 p.m. Friday at the corner of Linwood Street and Stanley Avenue.

Her family identified the 18-year-old victim as Tanaya Grant Copeland.

On Saturday, the community released balloons, held signs and lit candles to honor Copeland's life.
