CANARSIE - The maid accusing former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Khan of sexual assault spoke to reporters for the first time today at a news conference at the Christian Cultural Center in Canarsie.

Nafissatou Diallo said the past two months since the alleged incident occurred have been very hard on her and her 15-year-old daughter.

Diallo did not answer any questions, but thanked all of her supporters and maintained that she's telling the truth. She told reporters from around the world that she's been through a lot since the incident, and is speaking out because she doesn't want other women enduring what she has.

Kenneth Thompson, Diallo's attorney, also spoke out against the accusations that Diallo is a liar.

"Nafissatou Diallo is not a prostitute and she's not a hooker. She's a hardworking single parent struggling to raise her 15-year-old daughter in The Bronx like thousands of other women in this city," said Thompson. Thompson said Diallo will be filing a civil suit sometime in the future.

Diallo claims Strauss-Khan attacked her when she went to clean his Manhattan hotel room. Strauss-Khain maintains his innocence, and his attorneys say Diallo is just looking for money. His next court date is Aug. 23.
