BAY RIDGE - A major makeover is in store for Fourth Avenue in Bay Ridge.

The city is planning a new look that will calm traffic and improve safety along the street. Transportation officials say the area can be dangerous, and is known for speedy drivers and deadly accidents.

Officials want to add turning lanes, improve crosswalks and add a pedestrian island along the avenue between 88th and 86th streets.

Community Board 10 and members of the city's DOT held an informational meeting Wednesday night at the St. Anselm Roman Catholic Church so residents could discuss the project.
