Man accused in BK hair salon shooting appears in court

BROOKLYN - The man accused in a Brooklyn hair salon shooting last year was back in court today.

According to prosecutors, Winston Cox tried to rob Deluz Hair Gallery on Franklin Avenue when he shot an off-duty police officer who was getting her hair done at the time.

Officials say Detective Feris Jones shot back at Cox, striking him in the hand. He managed to escape, but was arrested a few days later.

Cox was arraigned last month on attempted murder charges. If convicted, he could face up to 40 years to life in prison.
