Man accused of holding woman captive due in court

BROOKLYN - The man accused of holding a woman captive for days in his Williamsburg apartment is due back in court today.

Sources close to the investigation say John Hopkins, 45, locked the woman up, raped her and repeatedly beat her in his apartment last week. Sources say the two met on Craigslist.

Police sources have told News 12 Brooklyn the woman, a native of Wisconsin, found a listing for a room on Humboldt Street and was told she could live in the apartment for free as long as she cooked and cleaned.

Hopkins faces charges including rape, sexual assault and unlawful imprisonment.
