BROOKLYN - The man who police say fired eight shots into the street near his Dyker Heights home is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation.

Police say 33-year-old Derek Gallo got into a fight with his landlord and friend early Wednesday morning. The landlord said Gallo thought he had stolen his E-ZPass. He pistol-whipped the man, who fled and called police from a pay phone.

Gallo also threw a chair and a sneaker before being arrested.
