BROOKLYN - Authorities are investigating a police-involved shooting on Fort Greene Place.

Police say a woman alerted them to an emotionally disturbed man. When an officer and the woman approached the man, he took out a pair of scissors, threw the woman to the ground and threatened to stab her. The officer then opened fire, shooting the man two times, hitting him in the chest at least once.

News 12 Brooklyn was told that the suspect is the woman's boyfriend.

Police say the 25-year-old officer involved was taken to the hospital for tinnitus, or ringing of the ears.
