Man indicted in fatal Bensonhurst hit-and-run

BROOKLYN - The firefighter who police say was driving an SUV that mowed down a Guatemalan immigrant two months ago is now facing charges.

The Brooklyn district attorney's office says Pat Quagliariello, 39, turned himself in today. He was arraigned on charges including criminally negligent homicide and reckless driving.

Prosecutors say Quagliariello was speeding and texting when he struck and killed 25-year-old Manuel Tzajguachiac on Oct. 10 at 65th Street and 20th Avenue.

Bail for Quagliariello was set at $50,000. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of up to seven years in prison.
