Man killed by granite slab in Brooklyn

BOROUGH PARK - Police say a worker was killed after a granite slab fell on him inside a Borough Park wholesale construction supply store.

Family members and friends were devastated to hear 47-year-old Yuquan Chen was crushed to death at the 61st Street store.

Police responded to a 911 call at around 9:30 a.m., but when authorities arrived, they found Chen unconscious and unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say Chen was selecting a granite slab before using a forklift, but the slabs were unbalanced and one weighing close to 10,000 pounds fell on him.
