BROOKLYN - A man believed to be a squatter has been found dead following a fire inside a vacant house on East 35th Street. The fire broke out early this morning at 1138 East 35th St.

Firefighters managed to pull the victim from the flames and onto a porch, but were unable to save him.

Neighbors call the vacant home a haven for squatters and drug addicts. Police on the scene have confirmed that the local precinct was aware the house was a place for drug use.

Neighbors say the original owner of the home died five years ago.The cause of the fire at the vacant house is under investigation.
