Man pushes his way into woman's Coney Island apartment, robs her

CONEY ISLAND - A woman is recovering after a man forced his way into her Coney Island apartment Friday and robbed her.

The suspect pushed his way into the woman?s 21st floor apartment at 3415 Neptune Ave., where he may have sexually assaulted her. The victim received treatment at the hospital for her injuries. The investigation is ongoing and the suspect is at large.

Neighbors say the building has a security door, but it is often propped open, which defeats the purpose. They believe the suspect may have gained entry into the building that way. Residents also complain that Coney Island is increasingly becoming a rough area to live in due to drugs and frequent robberies.
