An 82-year-old man was struck and killed by a car in Gerritsen Beach Friday evening.

BROOKLYN - An 82-year-old man was struck and killed by a car in Gerritsen Beach Friday evening.

Police say it happened at around 7:15 p.m. near Knapp Street and Gerritsen Avenue.

They say Joseph l. Ciresi was trying to cross the street when he was hit by a Mercury Grand Marquis.

Officers from the 61st Precinct arrived at the scene and found Ciresi unconscious with trauma to his head.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car remained at the scene and will not face charges.
