MIDWOOD - Firefighters were called out this afternoon to extinguish a manhole fire that caused numerous power outages.

Firefighters say the manhole at Coney Island Avenue and Avenue K erupted in flames. They say firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames, but the fire left power out for many.
