FORT HAMILTON - An ultra-marathoner has set out to run 250 miles to raise money for the second stage of a memorial for Commodore John Barry.

Commodore John Barry offered his services to President George Washington during the Revolutionary War and reshaped what was called the raggle-taggle Navy.

Marathoner Tom Mcgrath is running from New York to Maryland at a pace of about 30 miles a day.

Today, Mcgrath made his way over the Verrazano Bridge -about 235 miles away from his destination.

He plans to arrive next Saturday in Annapolis, Md. at the U.S Naval Academy.
