BROOKLYN - Residents of NYCHA's Marcy Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant say they are frustrated and disgusted over piles of garbage left right in front of their complex.

Eisha Hughes, a resident of the Marcy Complex, took News 12 around the building where piles of trash and rat holes are seen. She says no one has picked up the trash for weeks and that NYCHA workers keep telling her that they are under-staffed.

"This garbage has been here even before the snow fell and it's really frustrating because the rats are a problem now," she says. "My child goes to school and rats are running like crazy and it smells. You can't even walk past without stepping on trash."

A NYCHA spokesperson issued a statement saying that "families who call NYCHA home deserve to live in well-maintained developments and we apologize for not meeting that standard here. Staff is on-site now removing garbage and exterminators will be at the development first thing Monday morning."
