BROOKLYN - A family is in mourning after an MTA bus struck and killed a young Brooklyn woman.

Marisol Martinez, 21, was as sophomore at CUNY Hunter. Her family says she was out with some friends getting pizza when she was hit by a bus on Union Avenue. She would have been the first person from her family to graduate college. She was studying to become a nurse.

Martinez's mother says she was always responsible, even calling her mother to let her know she would be home late.

The family is currently seeking answers from the MTA as to how the accident occurred. Surveillance video will be scrutinized during the police investigation to determine exactly what happened.
