BROOKLYN - Marty Markowitz's 12-year run as Brooklyn's borough president will come to an end on Dec. 31.

During an exclusive interview with News 12 at Borough Hall, Markowitz said he'll take with him wonderful memories and that it was the perfect job for him.

Markowitz says he's done running for public office, but he's not done serving the community.

He told News 12 Brooklyn that he may get into higher education. But first, he says he wants an end to violence in crime-ridden neighborhoods.

Markowitz is asking big-name manufacturing companies to come to Brooklyn and put people back to work.
