Mayor Bill de Blasio announces paid sick day expansion

Changes will require businesses with five or more employees to provide five paid sick days a year. (1/17/14)

BROOKLYN - Mayor Bill de Blasio today announced an expansion of the paid sick leave law.

De Blasio says the law will provide paid sick days to an additional half-million New Yorkers.

Under the current law, businesses with 20 or more employees are required to provide five sick days.
