Mayor Bill de Blasio, Chancellor Carmen Farina visit Bronx school to push more after-school programs
THE BRONX - Mayor Bill de Blasio and schools Chancellor Carmen Farina paid a visit this week to a middle school in the Bronx.
De Blasio and Farina took a tour of the Bronx School of Young Leaders to get a first-hand look at a public school with a multitude of after-school programs.
The two are highlighting the kind of activities they want to see in all of the city's middle schools as they try to secure more funding.

The mayor also reiterated his case for a tax increase on the wealthy in order to increase after-school programs and implement universal pre-kindergarten.
