Mayor Bloomberg says city is ready for Irene

BROOKLYN - Hurricane Irene is pounding the Bahamas right now, and could be headed our way. Mayor Michael Bloomberg says the city is ready.

The city will have a costal storm plan in place, which could include the evacuation of New Yorkers who live in low-lying areas.

The Office of Emergency Management has a website where you can find out if you're in a hurricane evacuation zone. If you are in an evacuation zone, it will show you where your closest reception center is and other tips.
