NEW YORK - Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio is receiving some mixed reactions about the song chosen to play before his victory speech on Tuesday night.

The Democrat strode on stage while the song "Royals" projected over the crowd.

"Royals" is a song by New Zealand teen Lorde. It is currently at the top of the charts in the U.S.

News 12 Brooklyn reached out to de Blasio's campaign to find out why they chose the song. The campaign has not yet responded. The campaign told The New York Times that the song was picked by his staffers.
