NEW YORK - Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio is officially moving on up to the east side.

De Blasio announced that he and his family will leave Brooklyn and call Manhattan's Gracie Mansion their new home. He had debated the decision, wanting to keep his son Dante closer to his school.

De Blasio says that he'll miss his home borough, but is honored to have the opportunity to live in the official residence of the New York City mayor.

Gracie Mansion has not been home to a mayor since Rudy Giuliani left office in 2001. Mayor Michael Bloomberg chose to remain in his Upper East Side town house.
