Medgar Evers student, mother return from Haiti

BROOKLYN - One Brooklyn man and his mother have returned to the borough after surviving Tuesday's earthquake in Haiti.

Clyde Philippe, who is a student at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, says surviving the quake was only half the ordeal. He and his mother struggled to get information after the disaster about returning to Brooklyn.

Philippe says they slept outside on mattresses following the quake in fear of aftershocks. According to him, a lack of communication and organization within Haiti delayed their return.
