BROOKLYN - A shooting last week on the Brighton Beach boardwalk in broad daylight has local residents concerned, and many turned out for a meeting last night to address crime in the area.

The Business Improvement District's meeting brought out lots of local business owners and residents to talk about violence, shoplifting and vandalism.

Meeting organizers say there are numerous efforts under way in South Brooklyn to see that the entire area becomes safer.

Last Thursday, a 16-year-old girl was killed and four others were injured in a shooting at the beach boardwalk.
