BROOKLYN - Runners took part this morning in the 15th annual Eileen C. Dugan Memorial 5K Race at Brooklyn Bridge Park, in memory of the assemblywoman who helped create the park itself.

Race organizers say the late state assemblywoman is credited with helping create the public park on the Brooklyn waterfront before she passed away from breast cancer in 1996.

All proceeds from the run will benefit the park conservancy's free events and activities.
