BROOKLYN - The man suspected of burning sacred Jewish mezuzot in Williamsburg has been charged with several hate crimes.

Authorities say 35-year-old Ruben Ubiles Jr., of Brooklyn, is facing several charges, including arson, criminal mischief and burglary, all as hate crimes. He is also charged with two other counts of arson and criminal mischief, along with reckless endangerment.

Ubiles was taken into custody for questioning after 11 mezuzot were set on fire at 85 Taylor St. Monday, and a 12th was burned at 130 Clymer St. Tuesday. He was first charged in an unrelated incident for allegedly violating an order of protection his girlfriend had against him.
