MIDWOOD - A Midwood florist is nearly up and running again after a fire tore through the basement Monday morning.

The flames broke out just before Madison Florist opened, forcing residents who live above the East 14th Street shop to evacuate. Firefighters responding to the blaze were able to control it before it spread to other buildings.

Crews were able to spare some flowers from the fire, but most of the inside of the store was destroyed.

A witness says one person was treated for minor injuries.
