BROOKLYN - Police have arrested 14 people, including a Brooklyn man, in an alleged heroin ring spanning from Brooklyn to Long Island.

Miguel Vicente, of Williamsburg, is accused of supplying the heroin. He and the other defendants appeared in court Wednesday in Suffolk County on Long Island. Vicente's bail has been set at $2.5 million and he will next appear in court on May 9.

All 14 defendants have been charged with drug trafficking and conspiracy, among other charges. Prosecutors say one unique aspect of the case is the suspected ringleaders are not believed to be heroin users.
