BROOKLYN - A million-dollar playground that was designed by students opened in East Flatbush today.

About 40 students from P.S. 181 collaborated with the Trust for Public Land to give the barren lot at the school a makeover. Over the last year, students helped put together the playground, which includes a garden, basketball court, play equipment and an outdoor amphitheater.

The idea began following an analysis of the city that showed East Flatbush needed more park land.
