Missing boy Simon Zorger, of Williamsburg, found safe

BROOKLYN - A missing 10-year-old autistic boy from Williamsburg has been found safe.

Simon Zorger had disappeared at about 5 p.m. Sunday from a busy street in the Hasidic village of Kiryas Joel, in Orange County.

Dozens of volunteers teamed up with state and local police, and canines in a frantic search for the boy. Their efforts were put on hold overnight, but resumed again at sunrise until he was found.

Zorger was spotted in a wooded area off Mountain Road. Volunteers say they were trying to coax him out when state police managed to get to him safely.

Zorger was taken to Westchester Medical Center for observation.
