BROOKLYN - An elderly patient who went missing from Long Island College Hospital last week has been found safe.

Police say Celso Heredia left the hospital last Wednesday afternoon without being discharged.

They were able to track him down Sunday, and he is said to be in good health.

The 81-year-old's disappearance happened as LICH continues to fight a permanent closure. SUNY Downstate has already cut staff, transferred patients and canceled ambulance service.
