CYPRESS HILLS - Police have identified an 81-year-old man as the victim of a hit-and-run accident in Cypress Hills Friday, two days before his family reported him missing.

Police say Ruben Rivera was pushing a shopping cart along Atlantic Avenue just after 3:15 p.m. on Feb. 7 when the driver of a parked truck pulled out of a parking spot, hitting him. Rivera was taken with severe body trauma to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police are still searching for the driver.

Relatives say Rivera left his Brownsville apartment Friday, saying he was going to go visit friends. After searching for him, his family reported him missing on Sunday.

Rivera's family is begging the driver responsible to come forward and turn themselves in to police.
