Mom: Son shot dead by childhood friend

WILLIAMSBURG - Police say a 39-year-old Brooklyn man was shot dead while driving his car on Lorimer Street near Ten Eyck Street Tuesday.

Authorities responded to a 911 call and found Ramon Blas shot in the torso by another man who drove up beside him. Blas was transported to Woodhull Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Blas' mother, Lydia Blas, says Blas' childhood friend had recently threatened him and is likely the person who killed her son. Blas' apartment was found ransacked, his mother says, as if someone was looking for him there.

Blas had planned to travel to Puerto Rico Tuesday, but his trip was canceled.
