Mosque debate hits Sheepshead Bay

SHEEPSHEAD BAY - Tensions ran high between protesters and supporters of a mosque in Sheepshead Bay yesterday.

Those against the project say the mosque will create extra noise, traffic and blocked sidewalks. Supporters claim that there is a need for a mosque in the community where many follow Islam. The architect of the project says they are just waiting for permits from the Department of Buildings and then construction should begin in two months.
