CROWN HEIGHTS - The mother of a 21-year-old man brutally stabbed in Crown Heights early Thursday morning is speaking out about the murder of her only son.

Burrows' mother, Donna John, says she did not know the alleged suspect and does not know if her son knew the suspect.

Police say they've arrested 61-year-old Joan John in connection with the stabbing death of Akeem Burrows after an argument over noise.

According to investigators, Joan John is facing charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon after Burrows was found in the stairwell of a building on Eastern Parkway, near Buffalo Avenue.

EMS says they received a 911 call at around 4 a.m., and that Burrows was already dead with multiple stab wounds when they arrived.

Joan John lives directly behind the building where Burrows was found, authorities say. The two are not related.

The suspect did not have a previous criminal record in New York City, police say.
