BROOKLYN - A local church is helping those in need stay warm this winter by holding a coat drive.

The organization New York Cares donated winter coats and clothing for children and adults at the Mount Moriah Baptist Church in East New York.

Church leaders say the drive is necessary now, more than before, because of the especially harsh winter this year.

Organizers say hundreds of people came out to the event.
