DITMAS PARK - The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) says big changes are coming to subway stations in Ditmas Park and surrounding neighborhoods come springtime.

The Cortelyou Road Q subway station is just one of the three in the area that will undergo a major revamping. The MTA says southbound trains won't run at the Cortelyou, Beverly and Parkside stations for five months. After that work is complete, the northbound trains at those same stations will not run for another five months.

Many subway riders say the construction will be a huge inconvenience. Local business owners are also worried that less foot traffic will hurt them in the long run.

An MTA spokesperson says the southbound trains will stop running in May. The northbound trains are scheduled to stop running next November.
